Fulfilling Dreams: My Journey from Passion to Entrepreneurship

Updated: Nov 13

Have you ever felt that spark, that relentless pull towards something that seems like a distant dream? For me, that dream was helping people dream. It might sound unconventional, but it's been the driving force behind my journey into entrepreneurship.

When I first embarked on this path, I asked myself the classic question: "What would I do if I could do anything?" Surprisingly, my answer was simple yet profound—I wanted to help dreamers do their dreams. The next logical question was, how do you turn that into a viable career? I didn't have all the answers, but I knew I had stumbled upon a lifelong interest and a mission that would consume me indefinitely.

I began with writing because that was my passion. Initially, it didn't lead me where I thought it would. Instead, it evolved into a podcast where I shared my daily musings, essentially turning my personal journal into an audible experience five days a week. This experiment opened doors to numerous failed business ventures, each a stepping stone towards my ultimate goal.

Through these trials and errors, I eventually wrote my book—an arduous and solitary process that unveiled the true challenges of bringing dreams to life. This experience inspired me to create Local., a haven for rural entrepreneurs (dreamers) to start small without the daunting costs of full-scale ventures.

Launching Local. unleashed a whirlwind of responsibilities, as I found myself nurturing and supporting more dreams than ever before. I discovered that my true passion lay not just in owning a shop or being an entrepreneur, but in empowering others to pursue their aspirations right here in Iowa.

In my journey, I've come to realize that Local. shop owners are more than mere strategists; they are community connectors and, above all, dream drivers. Every day, I am surrounded by individuals who dare to dream big, and I couldn't be happier.

If you've ever hesitated to chase your dreams, I encourage you to start with the questions I asked and take that first step. You never know where it might lead or whose dreams you might inspire along the way. After all, the world needs more dreamers—and dream drivers—to make it a better place.
